JINGXIAN, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Xuan brush, with elegant style, fine texture and durable quality, is produced in Jingxian County of east China's Anhui Province. The craft of making the brush was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2008.
She Ji, 36 years old, has been making Xuan brushes for about ten years. In 2013, he quit his job in Shanghai and returned to his hometown to learn the craft from his father She Zhengjun, who is a national-level inheritor of the art.
In a decade, She Ji has helped his father start a workshop named "Guardians of Crafts" at his hometown, and also opened an online store in an aim to popularise the Xuan brush. Through his efforts, the design and making of the artwork have gone through various innovations, with more creative products catering to modern life entering the market. Speaking of the future, She Ji hopes more people, especially the younger generation, can have the chance to know about the traditional craft and work in the industry.
