The number of international passenger trips at the Beijing Capital International Airport is expected to reach 8 million this year, according to the airport on Wednesday.

Since the beginning of this year, China has optimized the COVID-19 management measures, and the airport has greatly promoted the resumption of international flights. Now it has access to 75 international destinations in 47 countries on five continents, with the number of international passenger trips reaching 7 million.

On Wednesday, the airport resumed direct flights with Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, marking another step towards the recovery of the international market in the civil aviation sector.

Azerbaijan Airlines operates flights from the airport to Baku every Tuesday and Thursday.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. It is also the 10th anniversary of Azerbaijan Airlines to open service at the airport.
